Surprisingly, I had to dig deep to get a New Year's Day bird 'toon. What I found was this entry, from a little-known cartoonist named Faith Mellenthin. It is from a limited series called "Don't Feed The Geese" which appeared in her local newspaper, the DeKalb (IL) Northern Star in 2016-17.
As we end the year, this Loose Parts covers a South Pole truism.
