Betty

Hi, I`m Betty, a young pied cockatiel. I am cheerful, love to chew on everything within reach, and I am beginning to fly short distances with great enthusiasm! A kind woman saved me from being tossed in a dumpster and took me to a vet, who suggested that my best chance at life was at Mickaboo!

I have an extreme splay-leg situation which caused some rubbing that led to bald spots. I am almost fully-feathered now (though my tail feathers still tend to rub off). I am still learning how to walk, and since I can`t scratch my own nostrils yet, I will need help to clean them out with a special tool that can spritz them lightly with water.

I am still a baby, and when I can no longer see you, I might get anxious and cry out. I am starting to eat solid foods and I love to eat fresh food, a variety of pellets, and to try new foods (though you may still need to supplement my diet by gavage-feeding me liquids, since I don`t drink enough on my own yet)!

I love being pat on the head gently, and having my neck and cheeks rubbed! I hope that you can provide me with a loving home!

In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
