Hi, I`m Ariel! I`m about 15 years old. My last owner took me in from someone who needed to rehome me about 6 years ago. They loved me very much but I was on a diet of mainly seeds, and I ended up really over weight and with some pretty painful knee and foot problems - my joints are really stiff and painful. I got so overweight that I started to have problems with passing my droppings and my owner reached out to Mickaboo for help. She thought it might be time to put me to sleep.. I`m so glad she asked Mickaboo for help.

The nice people at Mickaboo picked me up right away and I went to see a vet the same day. They worked on converting me to eat pellets (I learned from Flippy the pionus!) and started me on pain meds. The pain meds are really, really helping me, and now I am eating better my weight is improving and I am able to poop again without straining.

I will need a home who can keep up my pain meds, keep me on a much healthier diet of pellets and fresh veggies, and watch my weight. Could that be you? I have many years ahead of me with good diet and good care!

I do love attention and like to sit on shoulders once I get to know you. If you`re ignoring me and you`re in the same room, I might get a little loud - it`s rude to ignore people you know! :)

While I`ve been with Mickaboo, I made a new best friend, Flippy. She`s a bronze winged pionus, who has similar issues to me and loves to spend time with me. We share a cage right now, and while we can be adopted separately, I`d love to get a chance to stay with Flippy long term.
