Hi, I`m Emily, a female budgie who came to Mickaboo in July 2022 as part of a group of 18 budgies rescued from a backyard aviary. I went to the vet, and we all now check out as healthy.

I am adjusting nicely to being in a foster home. I am very curious and typically the first girl to check out something new in the cage. I am still flighty and not calm when hands are in the cage. So far, I leave that "stepping up" thing to my cagemates.

I have developed a strong bond with my cagemate Nancy. I love being preened by her, and we play a lot. We`re both kind of delicate eaters.

But all my mates and I are ready for forever homes! Please won`t you consider me?

In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
