Hi, I`m Pearl, who came to Mickaboo along with my buddy Sapphire from a large aviary surrender in April 2022. People are still not my comfort zone, but both Sapphire and I will sit on a hand for seed or millet!
I was raised on a seed-only diet but I`ve been willing to cautiously explore chopped veggies and Nutri-an cakes. Obviously I still prefer seeds and I get them every other day to ensure I don`t get too skinny. It`s a slow change but I am adapting!
I am having a whale of a time sharing a cage with only ONE other budgie girl, and we have swings, and boings, and sunshine. WHAT a difference in my life!
My buddy Sapphire and I mirror each other's every move. Wouldn`t we be a cute addition to your forever home?
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
