Mickey is an approximately thirty-three year old DNA-sexed male African Grey parrot who originally came to Mickaboo in February 2022, was adopted and is returning. His life before Mickaboo was a bit rough, but an avian vet tech adopted him, and he`s been doing much better for the past few years. Now, the vet tech has to give him up for personal reasons, and he needs another home.
Mickey is a calm, gentle, curious bird who likes people on his own terms. He came to Mickaboo with the front of his body plucked, and his feathers almost certainly won`t return. He has arthritis in a few of his toes and needs slight modifications to his habitat to accommodate this; his coordinator can provide more details.
Mickey is on a great diet and loves his out-of-cage time and softer, shreddable chew toys. He`s very friendly and likes attention after getting to know you, but he can take a while to warm up to some people. He`s generally quiet but talks a lot.
If you want to learn more about and perhaps adopt or foster Mickey, let the African Grey coordinator know!
My name is Mickey and I`m about 30 years old. I`m a wee bit plucked right now. My owner was very sad to give me up but we moved into an RV last year and I had a difficult time adjusting. I really like to be out of my cage and when I want to come out I`ll say "Come `ere!" I`m with my foster parents now and they are kind and patient with me. Stay tuned to learn more about me as I adapt to my new home without wheels!
