Species: Parakeet
Sex: Female
Sub-Species: Standard Budgie
Adopted on 2023-12-03

Hi, I`m Lou, a little girl budgie who came to Mickaboo via the Fremont shelter in January 2022. I am living with a flock of other Mickaboo females, but I make sure I stand out from the crowd! I am distinctive with the beautiful yellow feathers on my head, but I lost my tail feathers somewhere in the past and they haven`t yet regrown.

I will chatter and chirp as my foster mom puts her hands in the cage for cleaning or rearranging. No doubt I am explaining to her exactly what she is doing wrong! I am eating Nutri-an cakes, a bit of seed, and some Roudybush pellets. Oh, and I LOVE greens, and will start eating parsley or cilantro WHILE my foster mom attaches the sprigs to the cage! I will also come up to the the bars for millet, and might even give her fingers a kiss while doing so.

Aren`t I a cutie, and don`t I deserve a forever home? With you??

In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
