4/2/2025 Bella`s name is now Peanut. She is 16 years old and is bonded to Pickle, a black-headed male caique. Both birds will need to be adopted together. They share a cage and are always together, as can be see in the photo. Peanut is on the left and Pickle is on the right. Peanut`s favorite foods are almonds, hot peppers, and bananas. Peanut at times does not want to go back inside her cage, but she is responsive to training techniques. Peanut tends to be more vocal when people are talking around her. She may bite if she is scared or asked to go in her cage when she isn`t ready. These are easily prevented by being respectful of Peanut`s body language. THIS IS FROM WHEN I WAS PREVIOUSLY ADOPTED: I am a curious, 10 year old Caique. I was surrendered when my owner was no longer able to care for me. I need someone gentle and patient as I learn to trust a new human friend. I have only 1 wing and do not fly. I have had a complete health exam and I am healthy. I recently had to leave my favorite human of 10 years and my male caique mate. I was not in a good relationship with my caique mate (we squabble) so my avian vet of 10 years recommended we separate and find new homes where we can be happy. I am not used to being without my cage mate and human so please be patient with me while I adjust to a new environment. I make a screech when I feel threatened or upset. I also make an peep when I am happy. I will call you to come back to the cage to spend time with me. Aggression: If I like you, I am not an aggressive bird. I will bite if you put your hand in my cage and I am telling you to back off. I only bite the people I like if you provoke me. Training: I will gladly step up on a stick or hand of someone I like. If you put your fingers near me, I will lift one foot to let you know I will step up. If I don`t do this, give me some space or use the step up stick. If you put a stick near me, I will walk toward it to get on. I may have been clicker trained in the past and catch on quickly to touch stick. Homones: I like hopping around with fabric and hanging from it, but if I begin rubbing on it, I take it away, I am hormonal. I hold it in my beak and hop around. I would NOT recommend giving me any shredding material or fabric within my cage because this can make me hormonal.
